Actually this guy is doing it right. It is NOT a drywall putty knife. Auto-body suppliers sell metal spreaders and plastic spreaders…metal ones push the filler material into the panel tighter than a plastic one. You can use filler on an entire panel because it will fill minor scratches and imperfections.
@MyRideisMe you have about 20 comments below from a year ago to answer, so why was mine answered immidately lol…in fact ive had that happen 10 times now… weird… i dont get it, well people with 300 K cars must be millionaires lol status symbol technically. lucky me my car is metal, metal is the best to work with, not plastic or figerglass, those are easy to ruin, at least metal last longer instead of todays cars where there made to fall apart lol
@CaseyMcLaughalot
What’s wrong with you? I’m not bragging at all! I don’t own a car worth more than $300k, but there are alot of custom cars that cost way more than $300k (and they don’t fly). How’s that bragging? Normally, you’re right, you wouldn’t use this much filler, but you can’t pound out a dent in fiberglass!
this is wrong you only use a little at a time, in fact if its a car, you try to minimize the amout of body work of filler by pounding out dents so that it will only take a little bondo and sanding to smooth it out
@TroubleDouble123 thats not a drywall putty knife its a metal filler spreader, i have the same one at work. do YOU know what you are talking about? when straightening a large wavy suface with filler, you add filler, cheese file and block. theres no problem with this vid.
@TroubleDouble123 Plastic and medal is more of a prefrence, plastic is better for curved areas or lines as it bends around the area, and yah its a filler not a coating lol
HAH!! this is a joke, your not supossed to put that much bondo in 1 place. Watch on a windy day, a stick will come flying into that thing and all the bondo will fall off.
can you put body filler over primer i live in the north east so putting putty on bare metal would draw moister and cause the bare metal under the putty to rust because putty draws moisture am i off in my thinking and does evercoat make putty you can use in this type o application thanks bro
That may be woodzo but those cars are made for rolling on stage then rolling off into a trailer and never seeing a mile on the street. The fact of the matter is that although this may work for some areas of the car, there are areas in every car that have stress that run through them,body work like this will eventually lead to cracks in the paint in those areas. You don’t see pro’s like Kevin Tetz smearing on bondo like this b/c he’s a pro, that’s what high build primer is for.
@TroubleDouble123 Sounds like all you do is all new cars. Get somthing straight like a fibberglass 32 body, or a 48 chevy. All the cars at Barret jackson is mud from the nose to the tail. Nothing is wrong with a skim coat of bondo. I bondo cars all over and cars i did i have seen 15 years latter and are fine. My 66 Nova wins best paint all over at shows, and is straight as a fucking arrow. All rod shops do the same thing to.
Nice work. Fucking seriously though. Nothing is ever right on youtube dont bother letting people post mate. Most of these fuck heads probably searched shit on wikipedia and think they know what there talking about. Nice tut.
all of you haters should just not comment. first off BONDO is a brand not a product so all of u sayin “thats not how u use BONDO” how do u know thats the brand hes usin so zip it. second ive been using FLEXIBLE fillers in bumpers for roughly 8yrs now and havent had a problem.3rd id say if that piece has alot of imperfections most of that filler will get sanded off. and lastly its not as thick as u think it is. generally they say 1/8 to 1/4 inch AT A TIME is good. meaning u can put more on..

i can give you what you want a scoop of filler and a strip of catalyst

He applies way too much filler. Does this guy think he’s spreading frosting on a Birthday Cake? Sure seems it.

@speck444 Put the body filler on directly over clean, bare metal. It’s polyester resin, it will seal against moisture.
I can tell he hates sanding. This guy is awesome
